+3-4 in the Senate
Flake/Corker gone but we gained Swamp Creature Romney. Still a positive because we flipped ND, MO and FL (and probably Montana)
Only 5th time in last 105 years that POTUS gained Senate seats in first midterm
When the dust settles Republicans will have lost about 34 seats (give or take a couple). Obama lost 60 and Bill Clinton lost 50 in their first midterms.
The markets like gridlock in DC, so this shouldn't hurt the stock market
Most of the economic groundwork has been laid already... tax cuts, renegotiated trade deals, etc
+1 on the SCOTUS so far, with 2-6 more years of Trump to possibly add 1-2 more.
House is irrelevant for SCOTUS and Fed judge approval
Now Trump has an adversary to stump against and blame negative things on (both sides do that). Previously, he and the Republicans had to own everything, good or bad.
Many of the House Dems are batshit crazy. That will actually help Trump look more Presidential and I bet he'll shift his strategy to being less combative, and hopefully the groundwork has been laid in the DOJ for heads to start rolling legally.
Gridlock in DC
There will be a constant drip/threat of investigations (what else is new?) **This could backfire on Dems though
