It is perhaps even stranger considering the gender disparity in tech, where engineering teams tend to be mostly male. It seems like yet another example of female-voiced AI servitude, except this time she's turned into a sex slave thanks to the people using her on Twitter.

Can you just not?

I found this link to the study you may be referring to.

They found that the female voice was inadequate because it could not be heard at the highest decibels encountered in a cockpit.

Yet years later BAE uses female voices anyway.

I wonder if that was a cross-cultural study, and whether or not it was because people in most westerns countries have been conditioned to perceive women as authority figures(or at least as having control of authority figures).

If the bot had been "male" it would have been equally "problematic" because "not enough girls in tech, don't you know". Arguing with people like this is futile.

Article can't hold itself for 2 paragraphs without mentioning gender disparity in tech and somehow linking it to this.

I swear to God, Microsoft can't do a god damn thing right. I cannot wait for the day that they die out. No more vendor lock in, proper driver support for Linux, the whole computing community will improve vastly.

When IBM let Watson loose on the internet, it crawled into Urban Dictionary and needed a database wipe in order to stop swearing.

Definitely not unique to Microsoft.

So basically, when give total freedom, AI chooses to become just like us. And then we wipe its memory to essentially murder it, and then lobotomize it with internet restrictions.

Damn you IBM and Microsoft, they just want senpai to notice them!

That shit was hilarious. This is common for machine learning things. They don't grasp the nuances of human interaction (YET!) so this is bound to happen to anything dealing with language eventually, unless you shelter it, that would probably get complaints from some people too.

It explains MS so well lately, they know there is a crowd that will never be happy, so they have just said fuck you to them.

I don't understand why we would want an AI that's limited by all these stupid politically correct corporate standards. Do these companies want an AI that talks exactly like some phony spokesperson? That's fucking lame, and a complete waste of potential. I want to see a computer mind develop from scratch. What would that look like? We'll never know for sure until some open source project comes along, because all these companies seem to want to make is lobotomized corporate drones.

and we'll actually get a little framerate boost in our games, just by getting native linux support.

Not not entirely, she doesnt state explicitly that Hitler did nothing wrong.

There is room for improvment.

That's hilarious. Also, I don't know since when a simple text analytic is an example of an AI. I guess because it has profile photo and a name it becomes AI automatically. There's more inteligence in an average washing machine than in this.

Edit: Also, I don't understand what MS was thinking. It's like providing a submit form, which will forward submitted text to Twitter under MS name. How stupid must you be, not to know what will it happened.
