the next update wanted to install Windows 10 Pro at shutdown

This is my biggest Win10 fear, that I'll wake up one morning and my Win7 will have gone full 10 without asking.

This is also the first I've heard of this. Did you perchance save the Win7 update number that wanted to do this?

Just to be clear, you bought Windows 7, and they want to replace it with a free software?

Yeah could you imagine the pain and downtime if it just pushed windows 10 without slowly deploying it. I've got it all locked down but I only want 10 or so machines a week to be deployed. I Don't want 15 calls deep on my phone because of an unwarranted update and confused user base.

We're still checking to see if this was automatic or not.

So they reported it without even knowing yet? Quality journalism. /s

Mitch: W-we're not sure what exactly is going on inside the town of Beaverton, uh Tom, but we're reporting that there's looting, raping, and yes, even acts of cannibalism.

Tom: My God, you've, you've actually seen people looting, raping and eating each other?

Mitch: No, no, we haven't actually seen it Tom, we're just reporting it.

v/technology in a nutshell - no quality control whatsoever, opinion pieces and clickbaits presented as scientific articles, fearmongering, circlejerks, and downvote brigades for those that refuse to participate in previous.

How about sneaky updates that were otherwise "Recommended" are now "Security"? Like updating your Windows install to have a "Security" patch that phones home and relays all the keystrokes you do on your machine?

Fuck you Microsoft. I hated you in the 90's. I still hate you. Greedy cunts.

They've jumped the shark on this one. I hated Windows 7, but I have it because of Steam. This has been the final push to get me off Windows. I'm kind of glad, but I hope virtual box et al pick up their 3d game.

Out of curiosity why did you hate Windows 7?

That is what malware also does, and then it sits patiently waiting until the user clicks the worng button and then it takes over the whole machine.
