Not really. I just wanted to grab people's attention because I'm the new moderator. The previous ones hadn't done anything in months so I put in a request, and Atko granted it. The second mod was still listed, but I removed him too because he, again, hasn't done anything in a long time. I also mod /v/crossdressing if anyone cares (No?) And am looking to make something better out of this place.
So, here's what I want to do. I want /v/shitvoatsays not to be what it sounds like in people's minds. Obviously, former Reddit users hear the name and SRS comes to mind. In favour with the admin, brigading with privilege (no consequences), self-proclaimed morally superior uppity cunts. That's not what's going to happen in this place.
What I want SVS to be is the place to post the best of us. The most thought out or compassionate things Voat users have to say. The most helpful, or informative. We won't sit atop a high horse, judging others because of their world view. A helpful comment is helpful no matter who says is. If you're more concerned with whose mouth it is than what they're saying, you should probably rethink your attitude. It would also be nice to actually discuss the comments, not just make a collection of them.
So, with that in mind, I can say on that part, just carry on what you've been doing. People have been posting here already comments they think are good, so that's not a worry.
What does need to be addressed now is having some proper rules. I've only thought of a few off the top of my head, so I'd like it if people could give me feedback and suggestions, and we can create a rule set together. I despise authority figures telling people what to do. If we're going to have rules, they should be by the community, for the community.
So far, I have:
Please archive links to comments.* (This is for two reasons. I don't want to send people to vote up or down. Let it stay as it is, and two, the comment could be changed if it were linked directly. Having an archived version allows us to keep the copy that was submitted because of how good it was. I don't want to see a Voat equivalent of Imgur's front page edits. *
Be civil or be gone. This means treating everyone with respect. You don't have to agree, but if you go after someone expect a warning or a ban.
You have freedom of speech, but not hate speech. If you start flinging the words "nigger","faggot" or "tranny" around expect a warning or a ban. (Whether or not you get banned would depend on the way you were using them, frequency, and amount.)
That's all that comes straight to mind. Please feel free to (and do) suggest additions or changes. I look forward to seeing how this subverse grows.
(Ooh, a downvote. I wonder if someone only read the title..)
