I'd make one small correction here- it's not rich liberal parents, it's middle class liberal parents. Rich parents send their kids to private schools, and don't have to worry about rezoning.

If you live in DUMBO, you're rich as shit. The minimum cost per month of a place there is almost 4500

Eh.. not really. I lived in NYC for 20 years. Yeah, you make more money, but it doesn't matter because it just flies out the window. Someone who makes $60K per year living in the midwest is richer than someone who makes $100K living in Manhattan. Worse yet, the guy living in Manhattan is going to pay 33%+ of his paycheck because according to the government he's "rich."

If you're a middle-class American you are pretty rich compared to the rest of the world.

You're pretty rich compared to a lot of other Americans too.

Love this quote:

‘It’s more complicated when it’s about your own children,’ says one parent.

Yeah I bet its tougher when you're not telling other people how to live.

I'm betting that entire neighborhood is a black hole of cognitive dissonance; no rational thought or logic will ever come back out, no matter how much went in.

Let's assume you are a middle class american who plans on starting a family. You've saved up a nice nest egg, used it to buy a house in a good neighborhood, and plan to have some kids and send them to a decent school.

And then a low income housing project is started next door. Suddenly, the school you want to send your kids to is a "ghetto school" with graduation rates in the single digits. If you send your kid there, they're both more likely to fail out of school than in other schools, and more likely to be the victim of violence even if they don't.

In that situation, most rational people would do everything they could to send their kids to another school. Up to and including selling the house at fire-sale prices just to escape the neighborhood's school district (this is likely their plan B if they can't get another school to take their kids).

Jesus penis. The issue has always been complicated; you were just pretending it was simple because it didn't affect you.

Why should a parent who has bettered themselves than the lowest rung of the economic chain subject their kids to that shit culture?

I really think everyone is just basking in the irony of this. These are the first people to romanicize the diversity of their multicultural neighborhood. The same SJW'S that tell you to "check your privilege" and pass off any real conversation of race as racist, unenlightened, and bigoted. Fucking hypocritical cunts, in the end they feel the same way as the rest of us, they just don't have the guts to admit it.

I think the issue at hand is not that they don't want to send their kids to the school, but that they would have an issue if anyone other than them didn't want to send their kids to a predominantly black school.

I don't blame them. The majority black school around here has metal detectors, security guards, and nearby shootings. The nicer white schools aren't the same as a private school, but still nicer than that zoo. My friend went to the black one for a week. He saw a girl get molested and some guy jerking off under his desk

yeah and they will happily send black kids to those schools and that's okay to them. I went to a school like that. They treat them like criminals and it does feel like you are in jail. All those things you described happened at white schools too but they also found drugs several times at the white school but no guards or fences ever went up there.

You really believe the school was built differently with it in mind that the majority of the students would be black, so they spent extra money adding extra safety features and employing security? You dont think they added it after the population became mostly black and violence was at the point it couldnt be ignored? Schools dont spend a dime unless its needed. They definitely dont blow their budget and hire extra people just to make the black kids feel bad because theyre racist.

Would you walk through a black ghetto alone? Would you walk through the areas of West Virginia that are literally the poorest parts of the country, but full of white people? One has normal crime rates, one has obscenely high crime rates. The white one is poorer. The poor and oppressed excuse doesnt hold up. Theyre violent.

The thing is that that shit is exacerbated by isolation. If you keep the poor kids isolated because more of them have problems, you encourage more of them to develop those problems.

You are blaming the blacks people for their own actions. Nice to see some race realism on this site. Usually you get the apologists. You go right in and say, black people are not improving since they have to live with black people.

Agreed. But how do you end the cycle? As a parent, I do not want my kids to be the first ones into that school. After it's been integrated and things are doing better, then maybe.

My responsibility to my children is greater than my responsibility to sacrifice my children for the 'greater good'. In fact, one could argue that I am more socially responsible by putting my children in private school, thus producing well adjusted adults that will provide more to society long term. (For the record, they are not in private school).

That is the reasonable response. The problem is that these people are the same people that wanted these students and schools to be mixed together in order to better the worse off schools. Now they are having the same done to them and suddenly it isn't a good idea.

There's also the parental responsibility angle - as a parent I am supposed to put my child in a situation/school where they have the best chance to succeed and become a contributing member of society. Choosing a 3/10 school insread of a 9/10 school means you are not doing your part as a parent.

Similar, IMO to allowing your kids to eat McDonalds every meal every day, cause it's food, right?

I grew up in New Orleans and you were not allowed to go to schools outside of your district without permission from the school board.

I went to a black school and I went to a white school. The white school was nicer in that we didn't have to share books or worry about gangs.

My district decided we shouldn't use books anymore. We had 120/120 teachers leave in the last 4 years.

more and more it seems that the best option is private schools or home schooling. the public education system has been destroyed by liberals. you are at a much greater risk of having your child's life irreversibly damaged when you send them to a public school. the government crack down on free speech and liberties is included in public indoctrination courses. public schools teach children to be wage slaves instead of active civilians.

It's just slaves. Wages are what everyone earns.
