She's the Democrat version of Mitt Romney - totally uncomfortable around the peasantry and doesn't much give a shit about anyone other than Lloyd Blankfein.

She's the Democrat version of Mitt Romney

I was going to say this. Whereas he vacillated right of center, she vacillates left.

I don't think so. I think Romney was a nice if awkward guy who was unsuited to politics.

Hillary is very suited to politics, but just once in a while lets the mask slip to reveal the writhing mass of tentacles beneath.

But Romney is a Mormon, so he is actually just like that, so he's got that excuse. Hillary, however, is doing it deliberately.

Unconsciously adjusting your speech to match the accent of area you're in is actually a pretty human thing to do.

She lived in the South. It shouldn't be surprising that her accent comes and goes.

Edit: since I'm being down-voted I'll elaborate: I was born in Texas and now work with very educated Nottheasterners. I usually make sure I don't drawl any words unless I'm visiting family.

She knows that it puts southerners at ease hearing her accent... it shows she understands the people in the south.

Assuming she gets the nomination, those same people will notice the lack of accent every time she speaks on a national stage. Really a poor political move.

they won't notice. They'll think she's putting on a yankee voice.

People are great at seeing what they want to see...It's a really shitty super power.

Yep. I have cousins who moved down south from NY to raise a family. The best is when they yell at the kids in a drawl then continue on with the conversation like a northerner

As a southerner her aweful southern accent is not only pure cringe but insulting. Is she going to try and do a stereotypical black hood accent when she goes to Baltimore? If she speaks in El Paso is she going to mimic Speedy Gonzales? Maybe if she speaks to an Italian-American community in New Jersey she shoulda talks likea dis, that woulda be a spicy meatball.

I don't like Hillary Clinton one bit but I have noticed when I talk to people they slowly start talking with a southern accent without realizing it (I have a heavy southern accent, apparently). I don't think this is what she is doing, but it's interesting to think about.

Everything about a politician, especially at this level, is carefully crafted and coached to appeal to the audience. This would include, but not be limited to accent, speech patterns, poorly fitting clothing to make them seem more like a "common person", etc.

I've heard this is a natural tendency to pick up on the dialect of people you're talking to.

I went on a spring break trip to Georgia with a group of college kids a few years ago. The hostess greeted us with "how y'all doing" and one of my friends instantly responded with an accent. We thought it was rude at the time but she meant it naturally not meaning to mock the hostess.

That said, I agree, Hillary would do this on purpose for political benefit, but its really not a reason to call anyone fake.

I think it is, I find myself doing the same thing. Adopting the accent of the people you're with helps you fit in with them and feel less like an outsider. Also, she lived in Arkansas for nearly 20ish years, I don't think it is so unlikely that she slips back into that accent unconsciously.

The apostrophe actually goes between the y and a. Y'all a slang contraction for "you all."
