'sup /v/ I've noticed that there's not a clear policy regarding spam and there's been a few discussions about what constitutes quality content around here, let us discuss and reach an agreement on this to move forward.
the FAQ currently says:
While we don't necessarily approve or agree with all content that users submit to Voat, our policy is to not meddle and not censor content unless said content is illegal in Switzerland.
but on the User Agreement:
You may not post any graphics, text, photographs, images, video, audio or other material that we deem to be junk or spam.
and that contradicts the previous and also the terms "junk" and "spam" aren't properly defined, as they should in a legal document.
I would rather say that you retain the right to remove any content at your own discretion, or provide a way to unambiguously determine what constitutes offending content.
the FAQ also mentions:
Submitting only links to sites you operate (or are associated with), without submitting other, unrelated links, is considered spamming. If you submit niche content (for example gaming videos from your own YouTube channel), you should create your own subverse and submit the content only to that subverse. If majority of the links you submit are to sites you are associated with, your domains may be globally banned from Voat. To be on the safe side, if you submit 10 links to various subverses on Voat, at most 2 of the 10 submitted links may be to the sites you are associated with.
which in my opinion does not help the site, as long as the voting process isn't rigged the userbase will determine what content is preferred, this policy harms content creators and even goes against the partner program that is being developed.
such program also need clear rules of participation and ones that go along with the general goals of the site reflected by their policies.
