Thanks for doing this! Looking forward to playing with the subverse!

I think the obvious ones are Team Fortress 2 and CS:GO.

Rocket league has also been really popular lately (Although I'm a budget gamer and don't have it, I'm sure some of you guys would wanna find a couple of guys from the sub to play with)

Looking at other popular games, Dota 2, ARK, Civ 5 and Terraria might also be hits.

Friend of mine has an ARK server running on local hardware near L.A., so we have full control of updates and no cheats. We've talked about going public, if we do I might advertise it a bit here on Voat.

Personally I don't have ARK, because I'm a budget gamer, but I'm sure you'd find some peeps here who would love to find a good server to play on, especially one without cheaters.

We have a minecraft server. Why not start a TF2 server as well?

Sounds like a great idea to me. Speaking as /v/gaming's console peasant mod, I'm happy that you're taking the initiative on this and maintaining a Steam group for the community to rally around. I know it's something that's interested /v/gaming for some time and I think that having a stable and official community should give the idea some extra steam.

At /v/steam we have also been talking about having weekend gaming events. We decided to go with the voat group since it was the largest. There is no point in every sub having their own group if each only has 10 members, but like you said, the guy who created it is inactive. He hasn't posted anything on Voat for about a month. I will change the official /v/steam group to this one.

We thought about posting threads where the users could vote on which games we would play each week. We could start with some F2P games like TF2 that everybody owns. We could organize event's whenever there is a free weekend promotion on steam like the recent Civilization one.

We appreciate your support and it's great to have you as part of the community :) I'm glad that Voat's site-wide steam group exists, but there are also benefits to having a subverse focused group to rally the discussion around. We'll have to come up with a good way to coordinate between the two communities. I really think this idea has legs.

Awesome! I actually ended up setting up a few test runs for this weekend. I welcome any ideas. Send me a pm or message me in steam (I'm Kady)

I'm currently on vacation and don't have my steam credentials with me so I'll join the group later.

Since you have the bigger sub you'll have to take the initiative. I posted a thread on /v/steam a couple of weeks ago and got no responses from the community. It wasn't as active yet.

Like I said I would make a thread every now and then asking the users what they wan't to play. The most upvoated games would become the "official" games of the weekend. We could find a server to go to post the address here and in the steam group and play. Maybe we could also have tournaments depending on the game.

F2P games would be a good start. This weekend Payday 2 would be a good choice since it has a free weekend promotion.

Great Idea! Games that I suggest would be CS:GO, Dota 2, Civ 5, ARK, Garry's Mod, and ARMA III just to name a few.

I'd host one of these, but not any time soon. See, I'm looking to build a new rig soon and make my current PC a server, but it's going to take some time. I might make it a Gmod server, but it won't be 24/7 until some upgrades are made.
