Heard some grim stories about this. Some guys relative was a doctor there and told a story about a little girl needing a ventilator machine to live, but there was no power. So her family had to work in shifts giving her mouth to mouth, and attempted it for days. But they ended up so thoroughly exhausted they couldn't continue, and the girl died.

That is economic collapse no matter what system brought it about. Argentina, a capitalist society went through the same thing. During the 1930's America looked like this too.

This is dreadful, even for socialism. Word has it that it is the Cubans who are maintaining Maduro in power. Venezuela has sent them so much money and oil. Cuba's only good spot in development has been it's medical and pharmaceutical industry. Why can't they reciprocate sending some medicine to Venezuela now that it's needed?

Before Chavez's reforms, the vast majority of people didn't even have access to healthcare. Cuba's healthcare is actually pretty good.

But, then again, there is an inherent problem with national liberation movements like the movement in Venezuela.
