I'm saying ~200 miles by road is not "nearby", no matter where you live. So you're saying the people in Belgium experience time and distance differently than other people?

Yes that's the point. Distance in America is usually judged differently because it is so vast. Driving to Florida is a 20 hour drive from where I live. Yet...most people drive instead of fly.
