If you truly believe that, then you are truly going to miss out on so many more suggestions further down in this post. It's close-minded speech like that that gives us browncoats a bad image.

If anyone is interested in science fiction, then the writing, casting, and acting in both Firefly and Serenity are simply top notch. The storylines are solid, and still very human, even in the sci-fi setting. It's got action and intrigue, with just enough humor to keep it from getting overly tense. This series had everything going for it, except the advertising.

For those not interested in sci-fi, it may not be their cup of tea, but it's still worth trying in my mind. At the same time, those who aren't sci-fi fans may have had very similar experiences with other shows I haven't seen. These are not wrong answers, just other answers. I've seen quite a few of these other suggestions come up before, and may be trying one or two soon, if I have the time. I may not have naturally gone out to watch something like Arrested Development or My Name is Earl on my own, but if others see similar qualities in them that I see in Firefly, of course I'll try it.

Finally, as your comment is designed to discourage conversation on any other suggestion in this post, it is not beneficial to the conversation. That is why I'm downvoating you.

Arrested Development called and said you're wrong.

I just finished with Serenity last night!

It's a fulfilling series despite being abruptly cancelled, mainly due to the excellent writing for the movie. I long for more, but am quite satisfied having spent those 12 hours.

And Linda Cardellini. Sounds like a pasta dish. Hotter than a Peperoncino.

Such a good show that, while particularly relevant to teenagers, everyone can get enjoyment out of.

And it had a lot of realism to it. Explicit language, sexuality, awkwardness, drug use... Obviously toned down for cable TV, but still a lot more "real" than many shows out. I think it was cancelled for being too real.

I know why it was canceled.

They couldn't pay for the music licensing. Too much good music

Better Off Ted

Obviously, Firefly.

Came here for Better Off Ted. It was a pretty solid concept with a good enough cast - shame it never really took off, there was a lot of potential there

Is Better Off Ted a HIMYM sequel?

I don't think so. If you've played Portal, it's like a comedy following employees of an Aperture Science type corporation. It's hilarious.

Never saw better off Ted but firefly is amazing. Just make sure you watch it in the correct order, not the order it was aired.

Well it's kind of not canceled, still one more season to come on Netflix. But yeah it's the shit and tapeman should watch it if he hasn't.

I dunno season 4 is almost not even the same show (especially in the Lindsay region). As much as I loved it I would have almost rather seen it die to have the minds that created it focus their efforts on other great projects.

Majority of the characters in Archer are voiced by the stars in Arrested Development. The writing is fantastic and H. Jon Benjamin is hilarious

I second this. The narrator alone is reason enough to watch the series. Also those eyebrows.

Jim Dale. He does the Harry Potter audiobooks so well.

I just started this series about a week ago. I am so far shocked really, it's truly engrossing. Some tv series have you confused and bored really, but the fluent conversations that happen and the events that unfold are really well done. It doesn't seem rushed like other shows.

And it makes you fall in love with the greatest character on the show in such a short time, only to have you tear your heart out, Wild Bill Hickok.

I'll second dead like me. Such an original concept. Unfortunately, like all good original ideas in hollywood, it had to be killed off.

Both are great. Carnivale was terribly underrated. I would love to see a resolution to the story. Morel orel is just bizarre. Most episodes I don't know whether to laugh or cry

Oh man there's an episode of Moral Orel where he learns to meditate, he sees an image of himself as Buddah, and he thanks the deity after giving him advice, and the deity says "Ain't No Thang But A Chicken Wing", god I was dying of laughter.

The show became depressing though and then it sort of redeemed itself at the very last moment. I thought he would give up religion though, but I'm glad he found happiness though.
