Black person here, I don't think reparations are a good idea at this point in time- it's too late for them to make a difference. Besides, I don't see a point blaming the people today for stuff that happened a hundred years ago. I'd much rather see the school system improved for kids all over the country, so that everybody has a good chance at honest work.

Hey Jourdy288. As a black guy, can you give everyone a bit of insight to the thought process around this in the black community? I see lots of white guys chiming in about what white guys think black folks think about it, but I don't think I have ever heard any real discussion from the actual black community about this topic I'd just be curious to hear any insights you may have, good bad or indifferent. and for the record i totally agree with your comment. To hell with skin colour at this point, lets just try and make everyones lives a little better where we can in this country. (USA)

Well, I honestly can't think of the last time I met a black person who thought that reparations were a good idea- then too, it's not something that comes up often. It's just, from what I've seen, the black community is largely hurt by lack of access to resources moreso than lack of easy money. I'm pretty sure you've heard about how rough the schools are in certain cities- I don't have the link, regrettably, but I remember reading an article about a school in a black neighborhood that was doing better than the other schools around it thanks to its curriculum and teaching style- it was doing so well, in fact, that the local kids who were attending the school got pushed out by a bunch of kids from a more well-to-do neighborhood.

I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but the skinny of it was that these kids were given a god opportunity, and they were working hard to take advantage of it- only for it to be taken away from them and given to kids who already had a head start in life thanks to the social class of their parents.

But yeah, reparations honestly aren't something that I hear too much talk about- but I certainly don't believe that they'd improve a whole lot.

Thank you for the contribution.

And wow, it seems you have been around for quite sometime my friend. Small question or perhaps I'm asking for advice, how do you handle to deal with all the idiots in these sort of threads?

Shrugs. I try not to think of people as idiots. So long as somebody's willing to learn, I'm happy to teach- or, at least, share what I know, you know?

Couldn't agree more. Look at what is put out in the mainstream, blacks vs. whites, men vs. women. If you take a step back you realise that it's really not the case and it's blown out of proportion.

The amount of shit that we hear from feminists but I have yet to meet someone in the flesh who believes that shit. The more infighting we have the happier the ruling class are and if we continue to play their game and not identify the real problems and start running the show for ourselves the entire human race will eventually die out. An evolutionary cul de sac

I've unfortunately met a few people who clearly believe in insane left wing bullshit, but refused to admit it.

Yes. That is why I like Voat. You can have conversations like this here. If we never meet we can never name our enemy.

If 300 million people were to realize that they're being used, they'd rise up and dismantle the current system for a new one.

Doesn't matter if you show them. People are too stupid and willfully ignorant.

Because our education system have become indoctrination centers.

The running joke is a gender studies degree is only good for a career as a barista, but in reality they wind up in education or doing paid speaking gigs.

The truest answer is that it's free money.

The reason given by people demanding it is usually something to the effect of how much white people earned off the backs of their black ancestors while they are now impoverished, but realistically most of the conditions that poorer black folks struggle to rise about came about post-slavery. Laws that people put in place to try and still suppress as many rights as possible, integrating them into lower paying work and making it hard to get a good education and a high paying job, etc. A lot of the country's prosperity also came about from either newer inventions, or from coming out of WW and WWII as one of the least war ravaged of the major world powers--since almost all of the fighting took place overseas. There are some old money families out there, but the number of people whose wealth can be attributed to slavery related sources rather than newer industries or lack of competition while others rebuilt post-war is pretty minimal.

Go to school, graduate, start cheap community college, take engineering and programming classes, apply for internship at Google or Facebook, or really any big internet company. Profit. They practice a strange sort of affirmative action where they have to have a few token black people on their teams.

Government has manufactured a false sense of entitlement in the black community.

I feel media has played a fair part as well. Remember all that 90's gangsta rap shit? NWA were all basically a bunch of actors, they've even admitted that whole East vs West coast rapper rivalry thing was something completely played out by the record companies. Pretty insane what an influence the media overlords can have

And I say that because I refuse to let SJWs, who are majority WHITE, represent the black community as they already do in the minds of some Voaters.

You can't write those letters big enough. We aren't ever going to get that the big mouths on the internet represent no one but the big mouths on the internet. Even when they get off their asses to go to a protest; they're only doing that because it's their one shot at socializing in person.

Approximately 12% of women consider themselves feminists. The rest hate feminists. You wouldn't know that by the media spin though.

Stop being deceitful.

Every since 1959, the Dems have loved Blacks. When Dr. MLKSr. met privately with JFK to promise delivering him the Black vote ... It's been all she wrote

My grand father was a baker, my great grand father slaved in a coal mine somewhere and probably died young of lung complications. My father was out the door when he was 16, and worked every day since then. Everything I have is down to him, 1 generation.

How much do blacks expect me to pay, and for how long?

Fuck black people who want reparations.
